AI Chatbots

AI Powered Chatbots

Jun 21, 2023 | AI Chatbots

Chatbots used on web pages have been with us for some time now but AI has revolutionized their capabilities, use and appeal. A maajor advantage of chatbots is that they proide 24 hour service, answering questions and collecting information from your web site or social media accounts. Typically, chatbots are built on a tree of blocks whereby statements are made and questions asked. The tree can branch to provide answers based on viewers responses. The tree design may look like the image below with some of the blocks that may be added.

Boxes can contain text, questions, buttons, links, images, or videos to steer the viewer to satisfactory responses. These trees can be used to educate the viewer, set appointments or reservations, offer discount coupons, offer goods for sale and more. A survey can also be added to the end of the chat with the results being collected for analysis and list building. All in all a powerful customer relationship and sales tool.

AI really expands on these capabilities by offering the Chatbot training materials. Comprehensive information on a given topic may be amassed in a MS Word document or PDF file and fed to the bot to increase it’s knowledge base. It can also be fed from URLs that connect to pertinent material. Beyond that, the Chatbot increases its knowledge base from interactions with viewers. A simple example would be to provide the Chatbot with a PDF file containing FAQs and their answers. Should an appropriate answer not be forthcoming there is an option to switch to a Live Chat session with an online agent. An example of an AI powered Chatbot appears on the home page of this web site and it ably demonstrates the power of AI (We used ChatGPT to list 20 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about AI and their answers. We copied and pasted the generated response into a PDF file and fed it to the Chatbot. It is now able to answer those questions and more and will only improve over time as it learns from viewer questions and additional fodder).

Another option is to use AI assisted staff avatars which can also be asked questions on pertinent subjects that they have been trained on. The level of interactivity is less than that with Chatbots but the results can be great. For example, use our expert, Dona Moretz here, your visual marketing and social media strategy questions. Chatbots can also be used without interaction. They may be recorded against a green screen speaking a predefined script. The recording could then be over-layed on a supporting video to provide full narration.
